Paddle Title: Gojijing

Meaning of Paddle Design: The design is the artist's interpretation of the surface of Lake Couchiching at sunset. 'Gojijing' is the Ojibwe origin of the lake's name, which means 'inlet'. The subject choice reflects Jennifer's gratitude for our Province's fresh waterways and watersheds that provide a home to countless aquatic, mammalian and bird species. Both mainland and island territory on this lake belong to the Chippewas of Rama First Nation, a member of the Anishinabek Nation of Ojibwe peoples.

Jennifer has provided a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Funding Project: Net proceeds from the sale of Jennifer's paddle will be directed towards the support of the Wet'suwet'en, who are defending their unceded territory in British Columbia from the Coastal Gas Link (CGL) pipeline.

Short Artist Biography: Jennifer grew up in the Caledon area and spent summers on the eastern shore of Lake Couchiching. Her paintings are inspired by her appreciation of the Canadian landscape and the beauty and perfection that surround us in nature. Jennifer paints both representational and abstract works in acrylic paint. She is a member of the North Toronto Group of Artists and the Lawrence Park Art Collective and has been studying art since 2018.
